About The Position

SUMMARY: Develop and implement new or improved methods, tooling, and machine designs to resolve engineering challenges involved in the manufacturing process. Create and maintain a culture of problem-solvers using Lean principles. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Represent manufacturing through new product introductions.Facilitate or assist with production part approval process (PPAP).Evaluate, review, and design systems/processes to increase production capabilities to improve quality, efficiency, ergonomics, and safety.Mentor and/or lead continuous improvement projects using Lean principles.Conduct engineering studies with the manufacturing team to determine root cause and corrective actions to quality issues.Prepare and deploy improvements in tool or equipment design. Assist with the capital procurement process.Design flow lines or floor layouts to promote efficiency through use of tools such as Lean Principles.Perform or direct major repair or installation of production equipment.Train team members on proper utilization of production tools, procedures, and equipment.Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications.Will establish piece rates by utilizing standard data and time/motion studies.May evaluate actual costs and determine causes for overruns in time and materials.Demonstrates the Viaflex Team Member Values in their daily actions.Maintain a clean and safe work area. Follow established safety and ergonomic standards.May be called upon to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed.Learning, understanding, continuously improving, and promoting the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.

Requirements

  • Entry level or early career engineer with Bachelors' degree or master’s degree in engineering field - Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Specific skills, proficiencies, and knowledge in field related to position, as identified by department leadership.
  • Ability to apply design theory and methodology.
  • Innovative in nature and open to new ideas.
  • High level of customer service skills.
  • Well-developed problem analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Proficiency with a computer, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
  • Travel may be necessary, based on position.
  • US Citizenship may be required, based on position.
  • Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach.

  • Exposure to a normal office environment.
  • Position may occasionally require entering a production environment, including exposure to noise, fumes, moving machinery, and varied temperatures.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of an internship in related field is preferred.
  • Understanding of Lean Principles and manufacturing processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques is preferred.
