Responsibilities

  • Develop foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes within the Erie plant, building the skills needed to function as a manufacturing engineer.
  • Support fixture design, shop layout optimization, and manufacturing process improvements by generating ideas and contributing to engineering discussions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a new shop layout for the spacer manufacturing cell, including data gathering, workflow analysis, and layout recommendations.
  • Contribute to diaphragm pack production improvements by participating in projects focused on increasing throughput, reducing waste, and streamlining processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost‑saving projects across the plant, helping to identify inefficiencies and propose practical solutions.
  • Participate in projects such as dry ice blasting evaluation for U‑joint paint removal, redesign of I.D. end plates for EDM applications, and replacement of outdated or unsafe processes with improved standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production personnel to observe processes, collect data, and support project execution.
  • Document findings, create reports or presentations, and communicate progress to the engineering team.
  • Actively engage in learning opportunities to deepen understanding of manufacturing engineering principles and contribute meaningful value during the internship.
