About The Position

The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities. This is a Student Intern position located in Saginaw, MI. This position supports the Plant 4 Manufacturing Engineering activities. Process Improvement: Utilize Lean manufacturing tools and conduct Kaizen activities to eliminate waste and enhance efficiency. Technical Support: Assist engineers in troubleshooting, independent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and developing solutions for manufacturing issues. Project Management: Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing manufacturing procedures, documenting workflows, and managing equipment layouts. Tooling/Design: Assist with designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling using CAD software. Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data on production performance, labor standards, and quality defects. Learn the processes of Nexteer Automotive within and outside of the Plant 4 Building

Requirements

  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Engineering
  • Candidate must have strong mathematical and analytic ability
  • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Products (Office 365, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Access, SQL)
  • Candidate must have excellent Communication, Documentation Skills and attention to detail
  • Candidate must have a cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
