About The Position

The Babcock Dairy Plant is seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to support the full range of plant operations, with a strong emphasis on hands-on manufacturing tasks. This position plays a vital role in producing our high-quality dairy products and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Duties include: • Assist with product manufacturing and production processes • Clean and sanitize processing equipment, floors, and walls as directed by the supervisor • Unload trucks and move stock between storage areas and the production facility • Serve as backup delivery driver, operating a plant truck (under 26,000 lbs. gross weight) to deliver dairy products across the Madison campus and to other state agencies • Perform duties under general supervision with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude – Experience working with tools and machinery for the purpose of production and/or preventative maintenance
  • Manufacturing experience involving production-related activities
  • A valid driver’s license is required. Employees must become an approved driver through UW–Madison’s driver authorization process, which requires meeting established criteria.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating equipment in a food manufacturing facility
  • Experience cleaning/sanitizing equipment and facilities
  • Preferred H.S. Diploma

Responsibilities

  • Reads and understands technical manuals for equipment operations and maintenance
  • Maintains documentation of equipment maintenance and repair procedures for future reference procedures
  • Provides assistance with assembling, testing and maintaining manufacturing equipment
  • Monitors and maintains inventory and required records, and assisting with retail sales
  • Unloads the store raw materials and prepares and loads orders of finished materials for shipment or delivery
  • Promotes a safe, clean, and organized facility
  • Performs regular inspections to identify and correct equipment malfunctions, repairs and replacements
