About The Position

The Plant Intern position will use a combination of engineering and project management tools to drive the improvement/optimization of various types of production lines and equipment. The individual will plan and lead small to medium size projects that include the integration of outside technical resources where appropriate.Assignments for this position emphasize manufacturing systems analysis, Voice of the Customer (VOC), equipment design, change management, project management and project execution. The position interacts on a daily basis with our departments, corporate engineering and internal/external project teams. Excellent two-way communication skills are required to support the needs of these departments & teams. We're looking for a self-motivated engineering student in their sophomore or junior year, majoring in electrical or mechanical engineering, to join us as an intern. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, working closely with our engineering and operations teams. This individual will be responsible for aiding with capital projects, developing technical guidance, and contributing to our culture of safety. Projects will be focused on safety, quality, efficiency, improvement methods, and cost reductions. Interaction with plant operations, engineers from other plants, contractors, and corporate engineering should be expected and will provide good networking opportunities.

  • Currently enrolled in a 4 year related degree program at a University or College
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical preferred)
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Class Standing Required – Sophomore/Junior
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon proof of the applicant’s legal right to work and be employed in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience preferred but not required
  • Manufacturing experience desired
  • High Speed Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications; familiarity with AutoCAD and SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in project work aimed at safety and process improvements within our manufacturing site.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis to enhance operational efficiency and quality.
  • Provide technical support to our operations team, aiding in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with engineers and staff to contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation and reports.
