The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Manufacturing Technology Coating Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Leading cross-functional initiatives to develop and deploy solvent and/or solventless coating technology solutions to 3M global manufacturing locations Partnering with team members across business groups, divisions, corporate labs, and Enterprise Supply Chain to build and execute project plans aligned with strategic priorities Developing or adapting technologies to enable manufacturing improvements, process optimizations, and new product or process scale-up projects within the New Product Introduction (NPI) process Designing and executing lab and plant experiments to deepen understanding of material formulations, process conditions, equipment design and their impact on product performance Traveling to internal manufacturing, vendor, or customer locations as needed to provide technical consultation, troubleshoot issues, share knowledge, or deliver training. Contributing to the creation and implementation of the Polymer Processing and Coating technology platform strategies. To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline or higher (completed and verified prior to start) OR High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) and a minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on engineering and/or manufacturing experience AND Five (5) years of experience in process development, product development, engineering and/or manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Advanced degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university Five (5) or more years of hand-on experience in coating process, equipment, or formulation development and optimization in a non-academic setting Experience with technology transfer, process scale-up and/or new product commercialization in a manufacturing environment Demonstrated leadership, project management and influencing skills to work with clients and cross functional team members from multiple divisions and geographic locations to understand their manufacturing needs and help guide projects toward robust cost-effective manufacturing processes Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills and capabilities Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes Ability to respond to new information and inputs with a sense of urgency Work location: Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN. Requirements
