POSITION SUMMARY: The Marine Mechanic Technician A provides expert maintenance and repairs to vessels, marine equipment, and other response equipment. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Execution of mechanical maintenance, inspection and repair of all marine services and response equipment, such as gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, vessels, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment and oil skimming systems. Inputs maintenance records into a preventive maintenance program for marine engines, vessels, skimming systems, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment. Tests and diagnoses problems, disassembles units, repairs or replaces parts, and reassembles units. Performs routine maintenance and adjustments on equipment. Maintains tools, equipment, and a clean work area that is organized and in good working condition. Creates and maintains files related to equipment maintenance. Prepares work orders and materials cost estimates. Participates in the on-call emergency response program. Operates hand and power tools associated with marine engines, vessels, skimmers, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment. Performs other, job-related duties as assigned.
