Instruction and Training: Teach classes, lead practical exercises, and oversee hands-on training sessions in marine engineering. This position will serve as Chief Engineer on Tongue Point Job Corps training vessels (Ironwood and Columbia) during underway training with students (1-2 times/week). Manage and mentor engineering students, ensuring quality and adherence to curriculum guidelines. Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and conduct assessments to ensure competency in maritime engineering skills. Laboratory and Workshop Maintenance: This position oversees the maintenance, safety, and availability of lab equipment, simulators, and engineering workshops. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all training and facilities comply with maritime regulatory standards and safety protocols. Professional Development: Stay current with industry practices, update certifications, and participate in ongoing professional development. Collaboration with the Maritime Industry: Build relationships with industry stakeholders to align training with real-world demands and potential student career opportunities. Administration and Reporting: Manage schedules, record-keeping, and reporting requirements as specified by the DOL, MTC, NMC, and other regulatory bodies as appropriate. Advisory Role: Act as an advisor to students, helping them understand career pathways, licensure, and industry expectations.
