Colorado Springs Airport
More than 2 million passengers pass through the Airport (Colorado Springs Airport) each year. The Airport serves as the first impression for thousands of visitors, giving them a breathtaking view of Pikes Peak and a taste of Colorado hospitality. In addition, the Airport is a major catalyst in the growth and development of the Colorado Springs region and plays a significant role in bringing new business, conventions, and tourism to the area.
Airport Marketing and Communications Manager
As the Airport Marketing and Communications Manager (an at-will position), you will manage multiple aspects of the Airport's marketing, public relations, media relations, and communications programs. You will write and produce news releases, advertisements, brochures, and other materials and serve as the Airport's 24/7 media contact. You will manage all marketing efforts to promote the Airport and assist with increasing its customer base and revenues. You will also oversee the Premier Membership Program, the Ambassador Program, and the art program and supervise the Customer Service Coordinator and Public Communications Specialist.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of:
- Supporting analysis as it relates to air service, customer service, business development, properties, and commercial enterprise initiatives
- Cooperative Marketing and/or In-kind Advertising Exchange
- Trends in advertising, marketing, and media to yield a strong return on investment
- Managing the budgets within a large organization or governmental department
- Reputation management and crisis communications
- Proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and text editing
Ability to:
- Manage timely content development for all print collateral, including but not limited to newsletters, press releases, brochures, magazines, and official letters
- Develop strong relationships with local media
- Build beneficial relationships with community organizations, elected officials, business leaders, and the public
- Understand and negotiate advertising contracts
- Use social media and technology to communicate complex ideas to various audiences
- Effectively utilize the Web
- Think and plan strategically, develop solutions to problems, and manage change
- Work independently and cooperatively
- Maintain confidentiality
- Prioritize and manage a variety of tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Develop effective marketing and promotion strategies and tactics

Skilled in:
- Communicating logically, persuasively, and accurately in oral and written forms with the media, elected officials, business leaders, community organizations, and the public
- Media relations and public speaking
- PC-based computers, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and graphics software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)
- Website Content Management (Drupal)
Successful candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, public relations, communications, or other related field
- Five years of full-time professional experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license
Ideal candidates will also demonstrate:
- Airport, airline, or travel industry experience
- Experience which demonstrates marketing and promotion strategies and tactics
- Spokesperson and Public Information Officer experience
*Supervision Exercised: *This position will manage and monitor work performance by directing subordinate supervisors, including making final decision on hiring, disciplinary actions, evaluating programs, work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.
*Fiscal Responsibility: *In this position, you will oversee budget preparation for a division or department. You will review and approve expenditures of significant budgeted funds for the department and/or do research and prepare recommendations for organization-wide budget expenditures.
