About the position

This new role on our Community Engagement Team plays a vital part in advancing SouthLight's marketing and development efforts. The assistant position will support strategic initiatives, including fundraising activities, donor database management, volunteer coordination, supporting community outreach events, managing team collaborative projects, and other general administrative supports.

Responsibilities

  • Support community outreach initiatives, managing the events calendar, scheduling staff and volunteers, packing materials, and tracking outcomes
  • Attend events as needed, setting up and taking down tabling displays and helping to manage SouthLight events
  • Recruit volunteers, collect all applications and required documentation
  • Support development fundraising activities, campaigns, and communications as needed in coordination with the Director of Development
  • Setup, maintain donor database - customize fields, workflows, reports - ensure donor data privacy, maintain security protocols
  • Enter new donations, update donor contact info, clean up
  • Help manage the online employee store with branded apparel and swag
  • Assist in managing internal ad hoc departmental and organizational projects and initiatives
  • Support internal and external communications and digital marketing campaigns
  • Help with managing photo and video library

Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Human Services, or related field and/or 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health or nonprofits a plus
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed for outreach events
  • Ability to travel to Cumberland and Harnett Counties for outreach activities
  • Proficient working with computers, Microsoft office suite, Google suite
  • Strong writing and editing skills
