Reporting to the Communications Marketing Manager for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, the Communications Specialist will:

* Support the Communications Marketing Manager in the development and implementation of a Communications Plan that identifies clear goals and strategies for student communications;
* Manage student communications from concept to completion; Ensure consistency of message and tone and ensure that all student communications have a student-centered focus and are in line with the College's brand message;
* Develop, update and maintain a student communication calendar to ensure that release of communications is appropriately spaced to avoid over-communication and overlapping communications;
* Ensure content is accurate and up-to-date on the website for Admissions, Paying for College and other student sections and pages.
* Review and monitor outgoing messages on Hobsons Retain, e.g., e-mail communications and My LaGuardia student portal postings;
* Copy edit, fact check, and proofread content for website, e-mail blasts, electronic signage messages and other print and electronic communications;
* Assist with merging of the student communications calendars from Student Affairs and Academic Affairs to ensure clear, consistent and integrated communications to students;
* Implement, maintain and evaluate the College's Social Media strategies and communication programs;
* Supervise part-time staff.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Provides expertise in digital and visual communications to support and advance the College's multimedia presence.

* Researches and identifies new multimedia platforms that advance College programs and initiatives
* Works closely with management to understand and produce effective message elements
* Creates and aligns various communication work products such as video, digital formats, layouts, graphics, web pages, and microsites to ensure consistency and effective messaging
* Assesses, enhances and manages the user experience on digital platforms including social media
* Collaborates with graphic designers, webmasters, and other information technology professionals to create comprehensive broadcast and multimedia communications
* Procures required internal and external resources and services and manages their utilization
* Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
