About The Position

The Marketing Coordinator plays a central role in bringing the Hobby Center’s marketing strategy to life through high-volume, high-impact digital tactical deployment. This position is responsible for managing the organization’s owned and shared media channels, including email marketing, website content, and social media, while supporting performance tracking and optimization across campaigns. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Director, the Marketing Coordinator serves as both a hands-on executor and a data-informed advisor, translating strategy into daily action and using analytics to identify what’s driving engagement, ticket sales, and audience growth. This role produces public-facing marketing assets that socialize the Hobby Center’s work, tell the story of its impact, and communicate its role in Houston’s cultural life beyond being a physical venue. As the Hobby Center continues to expand its programming, community reach, and audience engagement, the Marketing Coordinator will help ensure consistent, timely, and effective communication across platforms, supporting performances, education programs, partnerships, and organizational initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is a newly created position that reflects the continued growth of the marketing team and the organization’s evolving role in Houston’s cultural landscape.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in marketing, digital communications, or a related role (including internships or early-career positions)
  • Experience working with email platforms and social media management tools
  • Basic copywriting skills, including writing subject lines and short-form content
  • Familiarity with website content management systems
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting analytics and data across digital channels
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfort working with marketing technology tools and learning new platforms quickly
  • Ability to work at a desk (sitting or standing) and computer for extended periods of time
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing and executing digital marketing campaigns across email, social media, and websites

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy email marketing campaigns supporting top, middle, and bottom of the marketing funnel, from audience awareness and engagement to ticket conversion and retention
  • Manage the Hobby Center’s social media channels, including content calendars, posting, engagement, and adapting messaging for each platform to build brand awareness, trust, and community
  • Maintain and update website content to support performances, programs, campaigns, and organizational initiatives across the customer journey
  • Create and coordinate public-facing digital content that humanizes the Hobby Center’s work, supports brand credibility, and drives both short-term sales and long-term audience relationships
  • Manage the scheduling of content for venue digital signage
  • Track and report on performance across email, social media, website traffic, and CRM data across all stages of the funnel
  • Monitor engagement, conversion, and retention metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Share insights and recommendations with the Marketing and Communications Director and the marketing team to help guide resource allocation and campaign adjustments
  • Support digital advertising efforts, including light coordination and reporting for Google Search and nonprofit advertising initiatives
  • Assist with campaign timelines, asset coordination, and execution across platforms
  • Serve as main point of contact for Hobby Center rental clients marketing needs
  • Steward rental client shows from initial show build on website to on sale/go live to any client needs during lifecycle of show
  • Assess and provide feedback to rental clients about venue marketing opportunities
  • Liaise with box office to build presales and discount offers for rental clients
  • Support the delivery of Hobby Center Arts Partners marketing benefits
  • Work closely with internal teams to execute integrated marketing initiatives
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and consistency
  • Seek relevant professional development opportunities and learning
  • Along with other members of the team, represent the Hobby Center at performances and donor events and provide support as needed
  • Regularly attend the full range of Hobby Center presented programming to stay connected to our artistic work and patron experience
