About The Position

What You Will Do Provides massage therapy service to maximize the well-being of our patients. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team. Performs massage on Sharp employees, community members and patients to promote positive morale and health.

Requirements

  • Massage Therapist - California Massage Therapy Council -REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree Health related field
  • Certificate degree of an accredited school of Massage therapy. 1,000 hours massage therapy training with accredited Massage Therapy School certification
  • 2 Years Clinical experience as a massage therapist
  • Background in wellness or health care setting and knowledge in proper exercise mechanics is preferred.
  • Must have customer service experience and communicating both verbally and in writing in English.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in departmental goals
  • Participates in departmental activities, such as CQI, staff meetings, and chart review.
  • Participate in committees and system wide activities when requested as departmental representative
  • Meets productivity standards established by department leadership .
  • Participates in any plan to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Patient Satisfaction scores meet percentile ranking established by leadership
  • Contributes to the massage therapy program development, maintenance and expansion
  • Provides positive public relations of program to community.
  • Conducts or participates in training nursing/physician staff in massage therapy techniques and goals.
  • Assess and implement treatment plans
  • Initiate and assess patients/clients referred to Massage Therapy
  • Competent to implement treatment programs using massage techniques as prescribed.
  • Assesses needs of patient formulating goals as patient progresses.
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt massage techniques to the changing needs of older adults within the hospital and the Motion Center program.
  • Assessment of inpatient performed within 48 hours of received order
  • Ascertains appropriateness of treatment ordered
  • Demonstrates creativity skill, and efficiency in designing treatment plans
  • Confers with physicians, Nursing and Therapy staff both concerning patient care and for Program Development
  • Explains massage procedures to patient/client/family
  • Seeks assistance with unfamiliar situations
  • Cooperative and courteous to the customers and demonstrates appropriate awareness of age and cultural needs as part of Sharp HealthCare's commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Observes all safety precautions as described in the policies and procedures of Sharp HealthCare and the department.
  • Maintains the department and treatment areas in safe, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Effectively completes clinical support duties as assigned.
  • Reports all health and safety concerns in a timely manner
  • Assures equipment is in its proper location and functioning properly, immediately reports malfunctioning equipment to bio-med and supervisor
  • Ensures prescription is current prior to evaluating patients.
  • Documentation is completed in a timely, complete, legible, concise and accurate manner.
  • Documentation follows Sharp Healthcare guidelines, professional guidelines.
  • Maintains records pertinent to departmental operations.
  • Completes all documentation elements as appropriate.
  • Charts an accurate and complete account of care provided and patient's response.
  • Identifies own needs for skills training and practice opportunities and demonstrates initiative in taking classes or attending programs related to work area.
  • Develops self through identification of learning gaps and improves practice/performance.
  • Demonstrates consistent application of techniques for quality patient care both in the clinical setting and in the testing realm of initial/annual/ongoing competency education.
  • Demonstrating process of self-discovery including knowledge of strengths and weaknesses and view deficiencies as opportunities for growth.
  • Participates in 16 hours of continuing education, which may include outside education and self-study guides.
  • Participates in in-services and in-house educational opportunities
  • Maintains individual in-service/performance records.
  • Applies knowledge gained from continuing education.
  • Establishes and meets self-identified annual goals.
  • Participates in professional organizations
  • Receives specialized clinical certifications and competencies
  • Completing all initial competencies.
  • Consistently demonstrating competency as identified in the on-going assessment and evaluation.
  • Schedules client massages
  • Communicates departmental issues.
  • Accepts changes and demonstrates flexibility when asked regarding work schedules and assignments.
  • Completes additional assignments in a timely manner
  • Offers suggestions for resolving operational issues within the department.
  • Provides unit specific information to new personnel
  • Actively sets priorities and adjusts to unscheduled situations.
  • Completes all regulatory requirements
  • Takes initiative in using time effectively.
  • Practices cost-effective use of supplies
  • Participates on at least 1 of the following: (department project, committee or quality Assessment/improvement project)
