As the Master Electrician for the Battle Creek plant, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in accordance with local, state, and federal codes. This role ensures that all electrical work meets the highest standards of quality and safety while providing technical guidance and leadership to journeyman and apprentice electricians.

Requirements

  • Valid Master Electrician License issued by the appropriate state or local authority.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
  • Valid Electrical Contractor License issued by the appropriate state or local authority.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, OSHA standards, and local building codes.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously as well as strong organizational and documentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical systems
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff.
  • Knowledge of energy‑efficient systems, automation

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Installation & Maintenance: Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures following applicable codes and industry best practices
  • Inspect electrical systems, components, and equipment to identify hazards, defects, or required adjustments
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, technical diagrams, and construction documents.
  • Leadership & Oversight: Support administration of electrical apprenticeship program
  • Improve Reliability and lead Root Cause Analysis of plant electrical systems
  • Provide direction, training, and mentorship to journeyman and apprentice electricians
  • Approve and sign off on electrical permits, inspections, and installations as required by licensing regulations
  • Coordinate electrical work with contractors, vendors, project managers, and facility leadership.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all electrical work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA requirements, and local building codes
  • Conduct safety audits and ensure compliance with organizational safety standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation including service logs, inspection reports, and project records.
  • Project Management: Estimate labor, material, and equipment needs for new installations or repair work
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and budgeting for electrical work
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues affecting operations, equipment, or facilities.
