About The Position

The Material Clerk is responsible for ensuring work orders are accurately closed, inventory transactions are reconciled, and negative inventory issues are identified and resolved. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production and accounting, and improving overall data integrity within the ERP system.

Requirements

  • Ability to write and maintain routine reports.
  • Excellent skills in basic math.
  • Solutions driven problem solving.
  • Strong personal commitment to safety standards in industrial and/or manufacturing environments.
  • Able to utilize intermediate computer functions including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Data entry and management, paying high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working with inventory management systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and reconcile discrepancies
  • Must have high school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
  • Holds a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using JD Edwards ERP system a plus.
  • Usage of handheld scanners, label printers, etc.
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume or manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with WIP accounting and inventory valuation
  • Prior involvement in cycle count programs or inventory audits

Responsibilities

  • Review, reconcile, and close completed work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Investigate and resolve negative inventory balances, shortages, and transaction discrepancies.
  • Perform inventory clean-up activities, including correcting issues related to material consumption, labor reporting, scrap, and completions
  • Partner with production, warehouse, and planning teams to validate work order status and material usage
  • Identify recurring issues causing inventory errors and recommend process improvements
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory adjustments as needed
  • Ensure inventory transactions align with physical movements and system records as needed
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for inventory corrections and work order closeouts
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to inventory and WIP (Work in Process)
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts in pass-off procedure by documenting actions, irregularities, and continuing operational needs, as well as communicating issues or irregularities to appropriate team lead or supervisor.
  • Keep work areas and department clean and organized.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to all relevant safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations and flagging any equipment or safety issues to the appropriate team lead, supervisor, maintenance, or EHS personnel utilizing “Stop, Call, Wait” procedure.
  • Perform any other related duties as directed.
