The Material Handler I is responsible for transporting inbound and outbound materials within a production cell. In addition, the Material Handler I will maintain and update various computer systems to ensure the timely delivery of manufactured product and accurate count of inventory. Operate a forklift to transport inbound and outbound materials within production cells. Update data within the computer systems including location and inventory count of all materials. Verify material move requirements and check the status of orders to prepare for daily production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of finished products. Correspond with supervisors or Material Handler II employees to resolve shortages of materials or inventory balance discrepancies. Report accurate count of production parts and scrap by completing required paperwork and/or electronic entry. Assist manufacturing team members with material requests and order additional components as needed. Perform daily safety inspections of material handling equipment and weekly watering of the lift truck batteries. Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management. Follow lean manufacturing principles to help solve daily problems, improve efficiencies, and keep the work area organized and clean. Follow all safety standards. Always prioritize safety over output. Communicate all safety concerns to your supervisor. Perform all other duties as assigned.
