About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY The Material Handler - Shipping is responsible for assisting the Shipping/Receiving department.

Requirements

  • Able to drive forklifts, use overhead cranes, and knowledge of rigging.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and scale ruler.
  • Experience using power tools.
  • Trouble shooting experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Use of standard SAE hand tools.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with company policies and procedures.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience (manufacturing preferred)
  • Versatile and willing to help the manufacturing team while also putting safety as a top priority.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external customers.
  • Exceptional organization skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to be proactive and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Detail-orientated with ability to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, hear and talk.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands.
  • The employee occasionally will be required to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.
  • Collaborate and communicate with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in shipment and receipt of products.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and member-ready area.
  • Promptly unload trucks and deliveries and sorts and stocks receivables.
  • Engage with drivers with a positive attitude.
  • Provides additional backup support for shipping and receiving departments.
  • Drives company vehicles to Buffalo and Tonawanda facilities.
  • Uncrates wooden crates.
  • Build wooden shipping crates.
  • All other duties as assigned
