About The Position

The Raw Material Planner is responsible for all supply planning and procurement activities supporting approximately $15M–$25M in annual raw material purchases across assigned categories within the NA Refinish, Commercial/Light Vehicle, and Industrial supply chain. This role ensures the continuous and efficient flow of raw materials—including pigments, resins, solvents, additives, and packaging—to support production schedules while maintaining inventory targets, meeting regulatory and quality standards, and resolving supplier or material issues. The position requires strong coordination with suppliers, production, procurement, R&D, quality, and logistics teams. The planner also supports inventory planning and collaboration with other manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Ability to collaborate across manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, customer service, logistics, and finance teams.
  • Understanding of end‑to-end procurement, planning, and logistics processes.
  • Knowledge of raw materials used in coatings and handling requirements.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks: VOC limits, REACH, TSCA, hazardous materials handling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Chemistry, or related field; or 3–5 years of professional experience in supply chain or operations (manufacturing preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Planning & Purchasing Develop raw material forecasts aligned with production schedules across multiple coating product lines.
  • Create and revise purchase orders based on MRP demand signals.
  • Track supplier confirmations and manage short, late, or overdue purchase orders.
  • Escalate material shortages and communicate delays to Procurement and Scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate MRP/ERP settings including lead times, MOQ, safety stock, and master data.
  • Create STOs for interplant shipments.
  • Collaborate on new part setups, NADRs, and ensure correct material master data.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, weeks of supply, safety stock, shelf life, and batch traceability.
  • Maintain inventory targets and prevent material shortages or obsolescence.
  • Track consumption rates and analyze variances for high‑cost or volatile materials (e.g., TiO₂, acrylic resins, specialty additives).
  • Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with suppliers to manage availability, lead times, quality concerns, and documentation (SDS, TDS, VOC compliance).
  • Issue SCARs and support supplier improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Production, R&D, and Technical teams on material changes, new product introductions, and qualifications.
  • Meet with suppliers on-site when needed.
  • Logistics & Compliance: Coordinate inbound shipments and manage hazardous material handling and storage requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve supply chain resilience.
  • Reconcile invoice discrepancies using internal systems (e.g., Webcycle).
  • Meetings & Collaboration: Attend required internal planning, site, and cross-functional meetings.
  • Provide coverage through cross‑training with team members.
