About The Position

The Materials & Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing inventory, supporting production demand, and ensuring material availability across programs. This role works closely with Program Management, Engineering, Contract Manufacturers, and Logistics to resolve material issues, reduce risk, issue demand and keep jobs moving on schedule.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of inventory control and material planning
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Program Managers, Engineering, Logistics, and suppliers
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in an ERP/MRP system

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain inventory accuracy across all material types
  • Partner with Program Managers to release and support material demand
  • Run Bills of Material (BOMs) through the system to identify obsolescence risks and perform life-cycle analysis
  • Perform weekly cycle counts and resolve discrepancies
  • Allocate materials to active jobs and manage material availability on the critical path
  • Identify and resolve critical material shortages and issues with cross-functional teams
  • Manage and track customer-furnished and government-furnished property (CFP/GFP)
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, and logistics planning
  • Identify alternate parts and work with Engineering on substitution strategies
  • Collaborate with Engineering to design in material already available in the system
  • Drive usage of Mil-standard parts where applicable
  • Manage Return Manufacturer Authorizations (RMAs) and material returns
  • Control and track non-finished goods, including golden units
  • Coordinate with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) on excess material disposition
