Continuous Improvement across all segments of the company This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR (which generally means (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, as specified under applicable law. Main Functions The Materials Manager leads end-to-end materials management to include (procurement, inventory, logistics, and warehousing) for a ~150-employee manufacturing facility. The role ensures supply continuity to the Master Production Schedule, optimizes inventory, drives supplier performance, and partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to meet site OTIF, cost, and cash goals. cost, and on-time delivery. The Materials Manager is responsible for materials/purchasing, warehouse/shipping & receiving (15–25 FTEs depending on footprint). Strategic ownership of material readiness, inventory control, and ERP/MRP data integrity. Accountable for inventory turns, days of supply, excess & obsolete (E&O), and supplier OTD/quality. Drive cost-down (PPV), key contributor to working capital, and customer OTD targets.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success with S&OP/MPS, MRP/ERP (e.g., SAP/Oracle/Microsoft), and inventory control.
  • Experience with Made2Manage preferred
  • Strong supplier management, negotiation, and cost-reduction experience.
  • Lean/CI toolkit; data-driven decision-making; advanced Excel/analytics skills.
  • 10+ years in materials/supply chain with 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary teams in manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP; Six Sigma certification.
  • Regulated/complex industries (e.g., aerospace/defense, med device, electronics).
  • Experience leading ERP transformations (e.g., SAP EWM) and warehouse automation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead integrated materials strategy: demand/supply planning, procurement, inventory optimization, logistics, and warehousing.
  • Own the S&OP cadence (12–18 months) and work closely with Production Control towards meeting the master schedule/ advanced planning requirements; align supply plans to volume/product mix and capacity.
  • Ensure ERP/MRP accuracy (BOMs, routings, lead times, min/max, safety stock) and drive procurement and optimizing inventory discipline to reduce inventory carrying cost
  • Develop suppliers: contracts, QBRs, cost/lead-time reductions, quality/OTD, risk mitigation, dual sourcing, LTA/ SLAs
  • Monitor and reduce shortages; lead RCCA on material availability and quality issues.
  • Set inventory policies; manage cycle counts and physical inventory; reduce E&O via lifecycle and engineering change control.
  • Oversee inbound/outbound logistics, trade compliance, and shipping efficiency.
  • Hire, coach, and develop buyers, logistic and inventory staff, and warehouse staff; build a high-performance culture.
  • Partner with Operations to level-load, de-bottleneck, and improve lead times and throughput.
  • Lead or support Lean/CI initiatives (Kanban, PFEP, milk runs, supermarkets, VMI/consignment, 5S).
  • Prepare and manage functional budgets; report KPIs and drive variance actions.
  • Champion EHS, quality, and regulatory compliance (e.g., AS9100/ISO) as applicable.
