About The Position

The Materials Planner is a vital operational role within the supply chain function, responsible for ensuring the timely availability of materials required for production. This position plays a key role in supporting business continuity by forecasting demand, managing inventory levels, and coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders. The role is structured as a dual position, equally focused on Material Planning and Production Planning, and involves a variety of functions related to scheduling and loading manufacturing requirements for select products and project-oriented business.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of planning experience (production, materials, etc.) within a manufacturing environment or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with 2 years of experience.
  • ERP experience required - familiarity with BaaN, SAP, Oracle, or another ERP system.
  • Basic print reading skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain material plans based on production schedules and forecasts.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment orders.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components.
  • Resolve material shortages and expedite critical components.
  • Analyze MRP data and adjust planning parameters.
  • Support new product introductions and engineering changes.
  • Maintain accurate planning data in ERP systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Ensure alignment of material planning with organizational goals for cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to supply chain and planning processes.
  • Schedule and load manufacturing requirements for assigned products and projects.
  • Work with Purchasing and Production Supervisor to support stocking programs, minimize inventory on hand, while maximizing flexibility for select product lines.
  • Support stocking/replenishment programs for repetitive, high volume saleable products for select product lines.
  • Confirm and transfer production orders from MRP sessions.
  • Release MRP and PRP production orders daily.
  • Review product requirements and update work order schedules based on component availability and manufacturing lead-time.
  • Maintain sales orders based on revised requirements and deliveries.
  • Revise and coordinate production schedules with manufacturing based on customer demand.
  • Establish and coordinate with Production Team Leaders the priority in which work orders are kitted, released, and scheduled in production.
  • Serve as the focal point for product-specific expedites, interfacing with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Purchasing in planning/changing/coordinating work orders and component requirements.
  • Purchase intercompany components to support production of the products under the planner’s control.
  • Provide assistance to all production and planning areas as needed.
  • Focus on increasing productivity in all activities.
  • Follow necessary PPE requirements, appropriate specifications, and company procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
