Are you ready to design your future? Be our next Materials Quality Assurance Engineer! Your work environment at EXP In this role you will support the Material’s and Testing Department on a variety of high-profile DOT projects including the SR-400 Express Lanes Project in Atlanta as part of the Independent Quality Firm (IQF). This role works directly with the department manager and materials engineering staff and coordinates between our Field and lab Testing. The position focuses on material submittal reviews, planning for testing frequencies, documentation management in ATSER/PMCS, and ensuring full compliance with Independent Construction Quality Procedures (ICQP) related to material testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • 5–10 years of experience in construction materials testing, pavement materials, or QA/QC roles.
  • Familiarity with GDOT specifications, QPL system, sampling and testing procedures, and DOT QA programs.
  • Experience using ATSER/PMCS or similar construction quality management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for documentation and compliance tracking.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including field staff, lab teams, subcontractors, and Owner Verification.
  • Effective communication and time-management skills, with ability to handle fast-paced construction schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as RTT, ACI, GDOT QCT and GDOT Asphalt testing are strong advantages.

Responsibilities

  • Review material submittals, Material Approval Request (MAR) packages, and mix design submissions for compliance with GDOT and project requirements.
  • Review construction lookahead schedules to plan Independent Quality Assurance (IQA) minimum testing and logistics ahead of upcoming work.
  • Coordinate daily with Field Testing Manager, Lab Manager, and external IQA testing laboratory to meet the project requirements with respect to material testing.
  • Ensure all IQA test results, certifications, calibration documents, and material records are up to date and uploaded properly into ATSER/PMCS.
  • Support preparation and tracking of the Monthly Materials Certification Checklist.
  • Verify compliance with ICQP’s, including material verification and required testing frequencies and chain of custody.
  • Coordinate with the Owner Verification Firm (OVF) and Contractor QC teams to ensure readiness for upcoming work.
  • Follow up on testing results, discrepancies, and support resolution processes.
  • Assist with daily logistics planning, communication, and sample tracking between field teams, lab staff, and subcontractor laboratories.
