The Materials Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and executing end-to-end material flow activities in support of manufacturing operations, including kitting, inventory accuracy, and material movement across the factory. This is a working lead role, combining hands-on material handling with day-to-day direction, training, and workflow coordination for the materials team. The role supports production readiness and quality execution through partnership, accountability, and continuous improvement, helping ensure materials are accurate, available, and flowing efficiently to meet customer and factory needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in materials, inventory control, material flow, and shipping/receiving within a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience as a working lead, lead operator, or informal team lead, providing day-to-day direction and task coordination
  • Hands-on experience supporting end-to-end material flow for production, including kitting and inventory movement
  • Ability to coordinate daily workflow and support manufacturing and production schedules
  • Experience training employees and ensuring compliance with work instructions and standard work
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow documented processes and maintain inventory accuracy
  • Basic computer skills for inventory transactions, data entry, and documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively across teams, and follow through on commitments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems
  • Experience with kit audits, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and material staging
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or 6S
  • Experience providing real-time coaching, guidance, or performance feedback
  • Experience supporting onboarding coordination or training compliance

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a working lead, actively supporting factory-wide material flow including kit audits, inventory movement, storage, receiving, and shipping
  • Ensure materials are accurate, staged, and available to support production schedules and prevent shortages, delays, or line disruptions
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily workflow and task assignments for the materials and material-handling team supporting production
  • Work cross-functionally to identify, document, and resolve material, inventory, or process issues, communicating clearly and acting transparently
  • Ensure 100% training compliance for the assigned shift
  • Coordinate onboarding and training for new team members
  • Provide real-time coaching, guidance, and hands-on support, leading by example and taking ownership of outcomes
  • Adhere to documented processes and partner with process owners to continuously improve material flow and make it easier for teams to succeed
  • Provide timely performance feedback to the shift supervisor regarding workflow execution and team support needs
  • Champion safety and 6S standards within materials and production workspaces
  • Collaborate with other leads to provide coverage during supervisor time off
  • Maintain reliable on-site attendance (this role must be performed on site)
