About The Position

The Math Teacher provides rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction for students, including courses such as Math and Algebra. This position builds students’ mathematical reasoning, procedural fluency, and confidence while preparing them for state assessments, college-entrance exams (ACT), graduation requirements, and postsecondary success. The ideal candidate is committed to culturally responsive teaching, collaborative practice, and supporting a diverse, multilingual student population in an urban school setting.

  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Mathematics (Middle School and/or Secondary) or eligibility to obtain certification.

  • Bilingual ability — English required; Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and refine a mathematics curriculum aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards for Mathematics for grades 6–12.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in middle school math and high school mathematics courses, including Algebra I–IV.
  • Design engaging lesson plans and units that promote conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and real-world application.
  • Prepare students for state assessments, ACT, and other college- and career-readiness benchmarks.
  • Design and administer formative, interim, and summative assessments aligned to course standards.
  • Use daily and weekly student data to adjust instruction, provide targeted interventions, and extend learning opportunities.
  • Provide timely, affirming, and actionable feedback to students and families regarding progress and goals.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including English Language Learners and students with diverse learning needs.
  • Implement required accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs and 504 Plans.
  • Attend and contribute to IEP and 504 meetings as required.
  • Support the school’s MTSS framework by identifying students needing academic interventions and enrichment.
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that reflects GCCS values.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to promote engagement and academic success.
  • Enforce school expectations and policies consistently and fairly.
  • Engage in structured collaboration with colleagues around lesson planning, instructional practice, and student data.
  • Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs), instructional coaching, and staff development sessions.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student learning, behavior, and support strategies.
  • Participate in extended instructional opportunities such as Saturday enrichment, tutoring, and after-school programs, as required.
  • Support school wide initiatives focused on academic achievement, college readiness, and student well-being.
  • Complete required clerical and professional duties, including attendance tracking, grading, report cards, and supply ordering.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with school, district, and DESE requirements.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth, cultural competence, and reflective practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
