About The Position

The MCCO Tool Developer program is seeking a Research and Development Engineer to support MARFORCYBER at Ft. Meade, MD. Please NOTE: This is a proposal effort with award expected Summer 2026. If this timeline works for you, please review and apply today! HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT Conduct software and systems engineering research to support the development of new cyberspace capabilities. Identify and analyze potential vulnerabilities in software, hardware, and firmware components. Perform threat modeling and risk assessments to uncover potential attack vectors and vulnerabilities. Evaluate the security posture of cyberspace systems, including network protocols, operating systems, and applications. Research and analyze emerging trends and technologies in cyberspace such as AI, ML, and IoT. Leverage cybersecurity tools such as vulnerability scanners, penetration testing frameworks, and SIEM systems. Collaborate with MARFORCYBER teams to translate research findings into actionable recommendations and solutions. Drive innovation in cyberspace capabilities by developing prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred); additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 8+ years of experience in research and development withing systems engineering and/or cybersecurity
  • Experience in vulnerability analysis of software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Knowledge of threat modeling methodologies and risk assessment frameworks.
  • Proficiency with cybersecurity tools such as vulnerability scanners, penetration testing frameworks, and SIEM systems.
  • Familiarity with operating systems, network protocols, and application-level security.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies such as AI, ML, and IoT.
  • TS/SCI w/ CI poly

Nice To Haves

  • Experience conducting advanced research projects in a government or defense setting.
  • Knowledge of MARFORCYBER and USCYBERCOM missions.
  • Familiarity with advanced modeling, simulation, and prototyping tools.
