As an MCR / Ingest Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining operational continuity for live news and broadcast content. Requirements

  • 2+ years working in a Master Control Room (MCR), ingest, or broadcast engineering environment
  • Experience supporting live broadcast operations or news production workflows
  • Satellite transmission systems (Ku, Ka, DBS, C-band)
  • RF systems and signal troubleshooting
  • Digital compression systems
  • Video ingest and transcoding workflows
  • Broadcast media server environments
  • IP streaming protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, FTP)
  • Fiber contribution networks
  • Broadcast standards such as SMPTE, DVB, MPEG
  • Engineers should also be comfortable working with tools such as spectrum analyzers, waveform monitors, ingest systems, and satellite booking platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in 24-hour news, network operations centers (NOC), or live broadcast environments is particularly valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Operating core MCR technical systems for acquisition of live feeds via satellite, fiber, and IP transmission
  • Monitoring incoming signals and ensuring they meet broadcast technical standards
  • Performing quality control, ingest, and transcoding of incoming content to media servers
  • Providing first-line troubleshooting and support for MCR subsystems to maintain on-air services
  • Coordinating with field crews, satellite providers, and internal production teams to manage incoming feeds
  • Identifying technical faults and taking immediate corrective action to restore signal paths
  • Supporting preventative maintenance and testing of broadcast transmission systems
  • Documenting technical issues and transmission activity in operational systems
  • Assisting engineering teams with special projects and technical workflows
