We are seeking a Field Supervisor for our fiber optic construction projects for multi-dwelling units (MDU’s). In this role, you will oversee and promote safety awareness among employees and assure compliance with safety regulations and reporting. You will direct the day-to-day field operations for aerial and underground fiber construction, training and guiding field employees to keep up with daily operational needs.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in the telecommunications fiber or construction industry
  • Knowledge of aerial and underground fiber construction preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction practices including equipment management, scheduling, cost control, and safety
  • Experience supervising or dispatching construction crews
  • Experience working on multi-dwelling unit (MDU) projects a plus
  • Ability to perform telecommunications construction work including pole transfers, maintenance builds, new builds, cable installation, overlash, and strand construction
  • Experience operating construction equipment and machinery while following established safety protocols
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-relevant software
  • Strong reading and written communication skills sufficient to safely follow equipment and process requirements
  • Must be able to travel extensively throughout the United States (up to 85% of the time)
  • Ability to carry, climb, operate, and work upon an extension ladder (approximately 28 feet high and 75 pounds), and climb poles or other structures as needed
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in tight spaces or elevated positions involving bending, reaching, twisting, climbing, and standing for extended periods (up to 70% of the time)

  • Ability to safely work and navigate various terrains while managing equipment, safety gear, and tools
  • Ability to work in moderate to loud noise environments and outdoor conditions including heat, wind, and rain
  • Exposure to worksite hazards including operating equipment, moving vehicles, underground utilities such as gas and electrical lines, and excavating or shoring environments
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing and managing safety measures on every aerial and underground fiber construction project
  • Promote safety awareness among employees and assures compliance with safety regulations and reporting
  • Provide quality internal and external customer service surrounding the “Company Values”
  • Direct the day-to-day field operations through Foremen and Subcontractors, providing necessary technical guidance and leadership
  • Train and guide field employees to keep up with daily operational needs
  • Ensure Company tracking methods and systems are implemented to measure productivity levels, coordinate with fleet and tool management
  • Extensive domestic travel required (up to 85%) to project sites throughout the United States
  • Work with field employees on assigned construction projects
  • Communicate with management and team members
  • Promote an environment of integrity and accountability and provides coaching and training to crews
  • Complete performance reviews for field employees to provide feedback and coaching
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
