About The Position

Community First Solutions is seeking Drivers to join our Meals on Wheels and Transportation Division (The Fleet) in Hamilton, Ohio. As a Driver, you’ll play an essential role in providing safe, reliable transportation and meal delivery services for our community. You’ll be responsible for transporting clients and residents to appointments and scheduled activities, delivering Meals on Wheels, and ensuring door-through-door service while working collaboratively with dispatchers and the Director of Transportation. Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of active automobile insurance, and a good driving record to meet standards of our agency’s insurance provider.
  • Minimum of two years of licensed driving experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age and have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to understand the physical limitations of the older adult population and handicap person and capable of serving their needs.
  • Ability to communicate with emergency service systems.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong Team Player.
  • Must be physically and independently capable of maneuvering in and out of vehicles, carry a meal delivery apparatus and maneuver in and out of all types of homes, apartments, etc.
  • Must have the ability to work in all types of weather conditions including hot, snowy and stormy weather.
  • Must be able to effectively operate all equipment within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver choice meals (frozen, chilled, hot, and/or therapeutic) to clients in a safe, friendly, responsible, and timely manner.
  • Deliver shelf stable meals to clients 3 to 4 delivery weeks per year.
  • Document the time of each delivery; report to meals on wheels coordinator, supervisor, or designee any unusual circumstances or inability to deliver the specified meals.
  • Deliver donated gifts to clients during the Christmas Holiday season as part of the Giving Tree program.
  • Distribute communication items to client’s residence during meal deliveries (i.e. menus, holiday letters, satisfaction surveys, other reminders, etc.)
  • Must understand and be able to access email, use a GPS device, electronic tablets and learn new technology as it relates to the job.
  • Maintain communication contact with meals on wheels coordinator and other office staff as needed via tablet and/or cell phone.
  • Responsible for accepting client donations. Verify amounts and forward to appropriate personnel on a daily basis.
  • Ability to understand written or oral instructions and document services delivered.
  • Must ensure meal delivery meets all Council on Aging (COA) service specifications.
  • Provide timely feedback to meals on wheels coordinator and/or other office staff regarding service failures and customer concerns.
  • Ensure electronic tablets and other equipment (such as coolers) are in good working condition.
  • Maintain and ensure daily vehicle log records are accurate and up to date.
  • Check vehicle daily for maintenance requirements/needs and provide documentation and feedback when needed to departmental staff or designee.
  • Attend and successfully pass all driver education classes as required by the department, COA, and Community First Solutions specifications.
  • Attend company and other meetings, seminars and training classes as directed by your supervisor or designee.
