Chevron’s Shale & Tight Business is accepting online applications for the position of Mechanic Apprentice located at our Midland, TX, Orla, TX, Pecos, TX, Carlsbad, NM, or Hobbs, NM, assets, through March 31, 2026 , at 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time). The Mechanic Apprenticeship is designed to build technical skills in preventative maintenance tasks and gain hands-on experience in corrective repairs of oil & gas mechanical equipment. As part of the program, apprentices will work with a range of equipment and systems such as reciprocating engines and compressors, centrifugal compressors, vapor recovery units (VRUs) & air compressors, centrifugal pumps, and more, providing valuable exposure to real-world applications in the industry. Through a combination of structured training and immersive on-the-job learning, Apprentices are introduced to operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining oil and gas production in partnership with Field Operations, Integrated Operations Center, and Maintenance and Reliability team members. The position provides direct exposure to the Chevron Way Values and the strong safety culture that defines the Shale & Tight Business Unit. Apprentices will work closely with a dedicated mentor, complete two assignments across different operational areas to develop a broad understanding of how teams and functions work together to safely deliver production and minimize downtime, and will also participate in computer-based and classroom training. This is a temporary 6‑month field-based position.
