Duties: With instruction and supervision, this position is responsible for keeping all tractor-trailers in proper operating condition and for keeping “down time” to a minimum. Under general supervision, responsibilities include: lubing and greasing; changing coolant, oil and filter; repairing and replacing lights; general inspection of equipment; changing fittings; inspecting and replacing bearings; repairing electrical problems, brake work, air leaks and other duties as necessary. May do some diagnostic work with supervision. Assist mechanics with repairs and maintenance of company tractors and trailers Perform general labor tasks, such as welding, maintaining shop equipment, conducting tool inventories of shop tools and service truck tools, used oil disposal and general shop maintenance. May assist on “road calls” with mechanics to assist with repairs Perform general maintenance on equipment Perform safety equipment checks Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions Train in all aspects of the Mechanic Position Truck and Trailer Wash Cleaning of Shop and conducting grounds maintenance Qualifications: Qualified mechanics must have a high school diploma or equivalent. At least one year experience in vehicle repair and maintenance preferred. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred. Must obtain own hand and air tools up to ½ “ drive to be eligible for progression to Mechanic position The successful candidate will be dependable, safety conscious, have consistent on-time performance, strong customer service skills, and the ability to follow instructions.
