Mechanic, Level 4
About The Position
Mechanics are expected to work on all mechanical systems associated with boat building. This includes, but is not limited to installing, aligning and commissioning propulsion systems, control systems and fuel systems. They must be able to test, troubleshoot and repair any mechanical system during the entire construction phase and do any jobs as may be requested by the owners at the time of delivery. A level 4 employee is expected to have demonstrated leadership and technical skills as a level 3 employee and is a uniquely trusted subject matter expert within the Mechanical department, able to tackle our most challenging tasks and driving forward progress that the levels prior would not be able to do on their own.
Requirements
- All skill level 1 through 3 qualifications and requirements
- Possess a background consistent with requirements for skill level 4
Responsibilities
- Master advanced processes (as the business sees fit). GTAW-Piping systems-stainless, aluminum, copper nickel, steel
- Lead large outfitting projects, from planning through completion.
- Perform inspections and sign off on quality assurance for others’ work.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and inspectors on outfitting requirements.
- Oversee safety compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train and coach lower-level outfitters.
- Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce defects.
- Any other task as Supervisor sees fit.
