About The Position

Mechanical Design Engineer We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Cincinnati, Ohio team! Mechanical Design Engineers at the Curtiss-Wright Nuclear Division QualTech NP Cincinnati location are responsible for the performance of complex, highly technical projects in accordance with contract requirements and company policies, procedures and guidelines. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a vital role within the assigned business segment supporting customer deliverables. You will participate in teams and provide guidance to less experienced engineers and technical staff. You will be responsible for executing projects in conformance with customer specifications and industry standards. This position requires interaction with customers, suppliers, operations, quality assurance, sales and finance to support both domestic and international products and services. Criteria such as the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience, the scope of the specific position, as well as market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer. Your Challenge: Prepare, develop, modify and evaluate methods for designing, testing and qualifying a variety of mechanical systems and equipment. May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Review and understand a wide variety of customer purchase order, technical specifications, and quality assurance requirements and translate that into design, procurement, qualification and testing documents. Ensure compliance with customer purchasing requirements, technical specifications, and industry standards & regulations. Determine design approaches and parameters for testing and qualifying electromechanical equipment and systems with an emphasis on Vessels, HVAC equipment, and related components. Anticipate and mitigate potential failure modes to improve probability of successful results. Designs and leads testing, collects data and interprets results, conducts analysis and writes test reports. Capability to draw conclusions and reconcile differences between predicted and actual results. Plans and coordinates a variety of engineering solutions including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical or other presentations to ensure visibility of the solution(s) in an evolving environment. Maintain effective customer & vendor communications, ensuring that all requirements and expectations are addressed effectively. Determines technical objectives and develops innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems. Provides technical support to failure investigations and bid responses. Efficiently and effectively work towards goals in a complex, diverse environment with multiple constraints. Works with quality, safety, and engineering teams to develop, build, test and debug new equipment and machinery for custom Mechanical Systems and related applications. What You Bring: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Four (4) to Six (6) years of related experience Excellent organization, communication (written and oral) and presentation skills. Capable of coordinating multiple project responsibilities. Experience in modeling in CAD tools (AutoCad Inventor) is an asset. Experience in industrial equipment design/build/installation. Knowledge of basic engineering processes and procedures and experience in a highly regulated industry. Commitment to continuous improvement, problem-solving and supporting cross-functional engineering initiatives. Familiarity with ASME codes (AG-1 and Section III) preferred.
