About The Position

The Company: Pacific Aerospace & Electronics (PacAero) is seeking a Mechanical Designer (level 2) to join our team. PacAero is primarily located in Wenatchee, WA with a remote manufacturing site, Bonded Metals, located in Sequim, WA. Working together, we employ proprietary technologies, best practices engineering, and specialized manufacturing techniques to produce hermetic connectors and electronic packaging that perform in the world’s most extreme environments. PacAero’s products are hard at work in medical components, such as cardiac-function devices, on key aerospace & defense programs, in space and deep below the earth's surface. The Position: Job Summary Apply drafting techniques using SolidWorks to design mechanical components and assemblies.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GTOL) requirements.
  • Proven history – three years of continuous design - using SolidWorks design of components and assemblies within a PDM environment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Work well in group problem solving situations.
  • Exhibit sound and accurate judgment and be able to explain the reasons for them.
  • Communicate changes and progress in a professional manner.
  • Complete projects in time allowed and in the allowed budget.
  • Write clearly and informatively. Edit work for spelling and grammar. Vary writing style to meet audience needs. Present numerical data effectively.
  • Ability to effectively present information to individuals or in group situations to company personnel, customers, and auditors.
  • Speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations. Ability to listen attentively and ask for clarification as necessary.
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent to a two-year college or technical school. Curriculum must have an emphasis on mechanical and electrical component design, concepts, and practices.
  • Minimum of two years of CAD experience which follows general design principles of ASME Y14.5.
  • Due to ITAR Requirements, all PacAero employees must be classified as US Persons and are required to show proof upon hire. U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 of the ITAR: U.S. Person means a person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). It also means any corporation, business association, partnership, society, trust, or any other entity, organization or group that is incorporated to do business in the United States.

  • SolidWorks PDM accreditation is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with all employees.

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Observe safety regulations and follow protective equipment requirements. Report hazardous observations to your lead or supervisor.
  • Design conceptual, prototype and production components to meet customer requirements.
  • Evaluate part design to verify form, fit, and function using tolerance analysis.
  • Assist in identifying risk areas and potential product design issues.
  • Work with other departments to design prototype and production parts and tooling.
  • Identify and create Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Process Engineering Change Requests (ECR).
  • Review, evaluate and estimate the engineering design effort for sales quotes and customer submitted engineering changes.
  • Assist in establishing test plans to demonstrate that design meets performance requirements.
  • Manage design control processes and documentation required for assigned projects.
  • Assist other designers with PDM related issues and update templates as required.
