About The Position

This is a Co-op Opportunity for Engineering students to support driving output and quality improvements, supporting production lines, and identifying technical solutions for gaps in capacity and demand. Below you will find some general information about Bosch North America (RBNA), the Bosch-Charleston Automotive plant, and some examples of typical assignments that students will be given: Assist in the development of machine concepts and technical solutions for automotive sector requirements. Support engineering projects through various phases, including initial concept, design, build, and commissioning. Help prepare and present technical concepts and system architectures to support project discussions. Contribute to the coordination of multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing). Support the tracking of technical scope, requirements, risks, schedules, and project deliverables. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for engineering standards and processes. Potentially assist with on-site activities such as customer meetings, trials, and commissioning.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Strong interest in special machinery, industrial automation, or manufacturing systems, particularly within the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with engineering principles, concept development, and system-level thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coursework or project experience related to controls, automation, or mechatronics.
  • Understanding of the automotive industry or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g. Autodesk inventor, AutoCAD), PLC programming, or HMI design.
  • Any prior internship or co-op experience in an industrial setting.
  • A curious mindset and a proactive approach to learning.
  • High level of teamwork, self-initiative, detailed, self-motivated and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
