A Day in Life of a Mechanical Engineer at Hanson Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role: Design, analyze, and optimize HVAC systems for government, commercial, and industrial buildings, ensuring energy efficiency and compliance with relevant codes and standards. Develop detailed plans, specifications, and drawings for HVAC and plumbing systems, including ductwork, piping layouts, equipment selection, and sizing calculations. Conduct site visits to assess existing HVAC and plumbing systems, identify deficiencies, and propose cost-effective solutions for upgrades or replacements. Perform comprehensive facilities condition assessments on government and/or military facilities, focusing on HVAC and plumbing systems. Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into building designs and renovations. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and simulation tools to model and simulate HVAC and plumbing systems. Prepare written reports and presentations summarizing findings, recommendations, and project updates for internal and external stakeholders. Provide high-level cost estimates, utilizing industry-standard cost estimation databases. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to HVAC and plumbing. Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. Each facility condition assessment requires an average of 14 days of site mobilization (CONUS and OCONUS).
