About The Position

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Intern) with a strong interest in HVAC and building mechanical systems to join our growing engineering team. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to design, model, and analyze air‑conditioning, ventilation, and hydronic systems for a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. This is a great opportunity for a motivated student who’s passionate about energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and the integration of mechanical systems in the built environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Junior or Senior standing preferred).
  • Completed coursework in HVAC design, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid hydraulics/dynamics.
  • Basic familiarity with BIM modeling software, such as Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Interest in IES software or energy analysis.
  • Interest and/or experience in AI tools for design, visual programming (Dynamo, Grasshopper), coding (Python, C#), and/or open-source projects.
  • A collaborative mindset and a demonstrated interest in the built environment.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible, collaborative manner

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to mechanical equipment selection, building automation (BMS), or commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with energy analysis or system simulation tools.
  • Introduction to piping stress analysis and 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoPipe, Bentley OpenPlant, or Pipe3D).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC systems using Revit, AutoCAD, and energy modeling tools.
  • Support load calculations, equipment sizing, airflow, psychrometrics, and hydronic design layouts under senior engineer guidance.
  • Learn to participate in system modeling and simulation using BIM workflows and performance tools such as IES.
  • Observe and help coordinate with architectural, nuclear experts, structural, and electrical teams to ensure design integration and constructability.
  • Help in preparing construction documents, specifications, and as-built documentation.
  • Contribute to design automation efforts using visual programming (Dynamo, Grasshopper) or coding (Python, C#).
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to multidisciplinary teams.
