Purpose: The Mechanical Engineer (Device Development Engineer) role within the Science and Technology (S&T) organization is responsible for contributing to the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components for electro-mechanical combination products and medical devices. This position requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles as well as the ability to solve complex engineering challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of experience, preferably in Medical Device, Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry in relevant device development or Master’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 2 years of experience preferably in Medical Device, Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry in relevant device development.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out the job functions.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with tolerance stack-up analyses.

Responsibilities

• Independently design mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks software.
• Perform simulations and analysis to validate designs.
• Develop and execute verification test plans to ensure product meets performance and reliability requirements.
• Collaborate with third party manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on mechanical designs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
• Conduct analyses (e.g. calculations, tolerance analysis, etc.) as needed to improve product and component designs.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and apply them to projects.
• Conduct effective root cause analysis to investigate issues relating to Electro-Mechanical products and associated processes
