The Tooling and Test Fixture Section is a team of Mechanical Engineers who support the Advanced Product Center and their customers. The Mechanical Engineer I will be responsible for all aspects of the Special Tooling Mechanical design. This includes design conception, to CAD modeling and drawing completion of low to moderate complexity Special Tools and Special Test Fixtures under the general supervision of a team lead. This position is an onsite role in McKinney, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • Experience with Microsoft suite
  • Experience with 3D modelling such as Creo (or equivalent) and ACAD.
  • Experience with interpreting engineering drawings, including a basic knowledge and understanding of GD&T
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the product build process.
  • Experience with the design process as outlined above.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and machined parts design, DFMA practices, and utilization of hand tools
  • Ability to quickly learn the SAP Property System (SPS).
  • Ability to work with external suppliers.
  • Ability to adapt to changing product requirements.
  • Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, drawing creation using Creo Parametric
  • Obtaining quotes for make versus buy decisions for fabrication and assembly
  • Following proper documentation and tracking guidelines for customer owned property
  • Support of Special Tooling once the product build has started.
  • Support assembly of your designs
  • Support of automated test set design, build, and assembly
  • Implement mechanical engineering best practices in planning, development, and execution of scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Effectively communicate technical information to project leads and in design review settings
