About The Position

The Methods Service Engineer is responsible for developing and validating service repair methods that ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance of vehicle components for Daimler Truck Specialty Vehicle (DTSV). This role collaborates across global teams to create accurate technical documentation, optimize service processes, and support aftermarket readiness for new product launches. The position also includes defining and executing service checks, integrating Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards (VMRS) coding for standardized reporting, and leveraging Digital Mock-Up (DMU) technology to validate repair procedures before physical implementation.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, business or related discipline required.
  • At least 5 years of commercial vehicles or automotive experience including technical documentation.
  • At least 3 years of experience in vehicle diagnostics and repairs, service engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Familiarity with engineering, manufacturing, and downstream processes
  • Project management experience (including Microsoft Office/Project)
  • Effective multitasking and prioritization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Proficient problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Repair Method Development: Oversee the creation of repair methods and strategies that guide technicians to perform efficient, safe, and repeatable repairs, minimizing the likelihood of recurring failures.
  • Service Checks: Define and implement service check procedures for critical systems and components to ensure ongoing reliability and compliance with safety standards. Integrate service checks into troubleshooting guides and workshop manuals for consistent execution across the dealer network.
  • Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards (VMRS) Integration: Apply VMRS coding to all service methods and documentation to ensure consistency in reporting, warranty claims, and data analytics.
  • Digital Mock-Up (DMU) Utilization: Use DMU tools to simulate and validate repair methods, service checks, and tool accessibility prior to physical trials. Identify potential design or serviceability issues early in the development process using DMU analysis.
  • Technical Documentation: Collaborate with Daimler Truck Innovation Center India (DTICI) to develop workshop and troubleshooting manual content. Establish realistic timelines for content delivery and ensure adherence to project schedules. Review and validate manual content from DTICI for technical accuracy before submission to the Technical Communications team.
  • Standard Repair Time (SRT): Coordinate with engineering and field service teams to schedule and execute SRT development activities.
  • Parts Analysis & Aftermarket Readiness: Analyze parts associated with new projects to determine stocking requirements for the Parts Distribution Center (PDC). Identify assemblies that should be broken down into individual serviceable components. Ensure new parts and tools are available to support aftermarket needs at each product launch.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Customer Experience (CX), Quality, Warranty, Parts, and Dealer Network teams to align service methods with customer expectations and operational goals.
  • Performance Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve service throughput, warranty recovery, and technician efficiency. Monitor service network performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
