About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer Intern supports the Innovation Engineering team in the development, improvement, and sustainment of mechanical systems for vertical packaging, flow wrapping, bag filling, and palletizing machinery and product feed systems. This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on engineering experience through a balance of project-based work, collaboration with experienced engineers, and limited exposure to essential administrative and system upkeep responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred: entering senior year).
  • Strong interest in mechanical design, product development, and innovation.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist mechanical engineers on active Innovation projects, supporting design tasks, problem-solving efforts, and project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including electrical engineers, manufacturing, project management, and customer service.
  • Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and engineering discussions.
  • Support development, testing, and evaluation of mechanical concepts and solutions.
  • Own an individual project or defined project module aligned with Innovation priorities.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and innovative thinking to develop and improve mechanical solutions.
  • Present work to engineering leaders and incorporate feedback to refine designs and outcomes.
  • Assist with engineering system maintenance activities, including cleaning up product options, updating drawings, and maintaining documentation.
  • Gain exposure to the essential but less visible responsibilities required of professional engineers.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, organization, and accountability through accurate and timely work.
