About The Position

At Fluidstack, we’re building the infrastructure for abundant intelligence. We partner with top AI labs, governments, and enterprises - including Mistral, Poolside, Black Forest Labs, Meta, and more - to unlock compute at the speed of light. We’re working with urgency to make AGI a reality. As such, our team is highly motivated and committed to delivering world-class infrastructure. We treat our customers’ outcomes as our own, taking pride in the systems we build and the trust we earn. If you’re motivated by purpose, obsessed with excellence, and ready to work very hard to accelerate the future of intelligence, join us in building what's next. The Role We are developing a direct current air cooled chiller program to support our next generation AI data centers. As a Mechanical Engineer focused on Structural / Packaging, you will own the physical design of our chiller platform. You will be responsible for structural frame design, component packaging, serviceability, and manufacturability. This role requires strong skills in mechanical design, structural analysis, and practical experience bringing large industrial equipment from prototype to production.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of industrial equipment, preferably HVAC, refrigeration, or similar packaged systems
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) and 2D drafting
  • Experience with structural analysis and FEA for equipment frames and supports
  • Knowledge of refrigerant piping design and ASME B31.5 requirements
  • Hands on experience with prototype builds and manufacturing processes (welding, sheet metal, assembly)
  • Understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for serviceability principles
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and managing fabrication vendors
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with large packaged equipment (chillers, rooftop units, air handlers)
  • Background in pressure vessel design and ASME BPVC compliance
  • Experience with vibration analysis and isolation for rotating equipment
  • PE license

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural frame design and lifting analysis for an ACC chiller unit
  • Develop 3D CAD models for the complete chiller assembly, including component layout, piping routing, and electrical integration
  • Complete refrigerant piping design and stress analysis per ASME B31.5
  • Coordinate packaging of major components including compressors, condenser coils (18-24 EC fans), evaporators, pumps, and electrical panels
  • Develop shipping and transport strategy, including modular shipping options for oversized loads
  • Work with contract manufacturers on frame fabrication, assembly tooling, and production processes
  • Create assembly drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation
  • Support prototype assembly, including leak testing (nitrogen/helium) and pressure testing
  • Drive compliance with pressure vessel certification (ASME BPVC) where applicable
