About The Position

Mechanical Engineer (E30-2026-24743) Bowhead seeks to network with a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA. This position will require full onsite work at the Bowhead office or Navy installation. No remote opportunity for this contract Responsibilities Job duties to include but not limited to: Experience managing models inputs that trace requirements and specifications to the design of the mechanical system. Experience defining and evaluating risks at the system and sub-system level and verifying the mechanical system is engineered to meet performance requirements Experience overseeing the design of the mechanical system and developing the system architecture. Experience managing the planning and development of mechanical validation plans and testing plans with priorities on key system requirements. Experience managing the development of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for the mechanical hardware design and ensuring there is traceability to the Directed Energy Weapons (DEWS) Reference Architecture (RA). Experience managing the development of Internal Requirements Specification (IRSs) for the mechanical system. Experience Overall management and oversight of the work and products ensuring the mechanical development meets schedule and sufficient quality to pass performance requirements Prefer a strong background and experience in systems engineering within mechanical engineering design. Other duties as assigned Qualifications This position will require full onsite work at the Bowhead office or Navy installation. No remote opportunity for this contract Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline is required. Masters degree highly preferred. Five plus (5+) years experience in mechanical design and test. One (1) year experience in mechanical engineering design and development. Current experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD programs required. Experience with Naval Guns and Weapons Systems Engineering highly preferred Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have and be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. Candidates with an active DoD security clearance are preferred. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. #LI-BG1
