About The Position

The Mechanical Designer supports the planning, design, and documentation of mechanical systems for buildings and infrastructure projects. This role applies foundational to intermediate mechanical engineering principles to develop HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system designs, prepare calculations and technical documentation, and produce coordinated construction drawings. Working closely with mechanical engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, the Mechanical Designer contributes to efficient, code-compliant, and constructible designs while continuing to build technical expertise and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a Technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years’ job-related experience.
  • Licensure/Certification: n/a

  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD and/or other discipline-specific programs preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.

Responsibilities

  • Develops accurate mechanical design drawings and models using industry-standard software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and other discipline-specific tools.
  • Assists in the design and layout of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes.
  • Reviews drawings for accuracy, incorporates redline corrections, and performs backchecks to ensure quality and consistency across deliverables.
  • Prepares and supports mechanical specifications, evaluates submittals, and assists with coordination of project documentation and submissions.
  • Collaborates with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to develop coordinated, multi-discipline construction documents.
  • Supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve deliverable quality and reduce design errors or omissions.
  • Researches and applies applicable mechanical codes, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance and constructability.
  • Develops standard mechanical details and schedules under the guidance of senior mechanical engineering staff.
  • Reviews shop drawings and contractor submittals to verify compliance with design intent and technical requirements.
  • Assists with mechanical design calculations, equipment sizing, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates to support project development and delivery.
