About The Position

Parsons Corporation is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns to support design, prototyping and production manufacturing of custom microelectronic devices. Tasking includes: Researching and developing additive manufacturing processes, materials, and/or equipment Researching, qualifying and adapting new microelectronics packaging and assembly techniques Designing and drafting mechanical and electrical components utilizing 3D computer-aided design (CAD) Conducting and documenting engineering trade studies, analyses and tests All activities will be designed to give the intern a full understanding of the engineering design lifecycle and insight into the role that Mechanical Engineer play at Parsons. To facilitate their education and the quality of their experience each intern is paired one-on-one with a mentor of the same discipline. Interns participate in the Parsons Internship Program where they interact with interns of varying disciplines and senior management within the organization.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for a government security clearance which requires proof of US citizenship (internship requires clearance eligibility only)
  • Pursuing a Bachelors (3rd year or above) or Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering
  • Major GPA greater than 3.0
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a full-time (40 hr/week) for the 10-week program

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hands-on fabrication, assembly and test of engineering prototypes using typical machine shop equipment, electronics assembly (soldering, etc)
  • Experience with CAD (Solidworks)
  • Experience in additive manufacturing and/or printed electronics
