About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern you will have the chance to work with our Product Engineering team and learn about how AprilAire products are developed. You will also have the chance to take part in product improvement and learn about how we manage to manufacture our products right here in Wisconsin. Candidates must reside in Wisconsin. What to expect: Start in mid to late May and end by end of August (some flexibility on start and end dates) Full-time hours, Monday to Friday Onsite in Sun Prairie, WI 5 days per week. Requirements

  • Current student enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent (Sophomore or Junior status preferred).
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and PLM systems is desired
  • Creative and innovative problem solver
  • Ability to complete projects, document work and communicate clearly both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to participate and contribute positively in work teams
  • Experience with measurement tools/instruments used in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
  • Assist in inspecting warranty return product, identifying root cause of issue and proposing solution
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply computers and the related software to the solution of engineering problems, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and understanding of HVAC systems functions including heat transfer, airflow and ventilation (preferred)
  • Experience in building sheet metal based electromechanical assemblies (preferred)
  • Experience in developing and carrying out test plans to demonstrate suitable performance of a product or idea (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and run tests in our lab.
  • Data analysis and report writing.
  • Complete warranty return product evaluations.
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems into larger projects and products.
  • Create technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
