About The Position

The Mechanical Lead is responsible for performing hands-on mechanical work while leading and coordinating a crew of three mechanics engaged in the inspection, repair, overhaul, and maintenance of reciprocating natural gas engines, compressors, and associated auxiliary equipment. This role provides day-to-day leadership, work direction, scheduling, and performance feedback to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of work across the system. The position also supports troubleshooting, documentation of equipment readings and performance data, and communication of job status, resource needs, and schedule impacts to supervision.

Requirements

  • Mechanical engine and compressor maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, feeler gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to collect, verify, and properly document equipment readings and performance data
  • Ability to determine if measurements are within equipment specifications and recommend corrective actions
  • Ability to lead and direct daily work activities of a mechanical crew
  • Strong commitment to personal and team safety
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong work ethic and initiative

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with compressed natural gas systems
  • Knowledge of two-cycle and four-cycle engines
  • Knowledge of Ariel and Dresser compressors
  • Prior experience coordinating or leading small mechanical crews
  • Experience working in pipeline or compression operations
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent technical training in mechanical, industrial, or related field
