Mechanical Lead, CSU

Venture Global LNGCameron, LA

About The Position

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost. This is a contract position located in Cameron, LA.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in oil & gas/LNG facilities with strong commissioning/turnover exposure; LNG export experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical systems background: rotating equipment, piping systems, static equipment, and mechanical test execution.
  • Proven leadership of multi-discipline field teams and vendor coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of completions/turnover workflows and ITR-based verification.
  • Working knowledge of PTW/LOTO, SIMOPS, and pressure testing safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the mechanical commissioning focal point across Construction, Completions, QA/QC, Vendors, Operations, and HSSE.
  • Build and lead the mechanical commissioning team (CSU mechanical static and rotating, field reps), including priorities, delegation, and daily execution.
  • Chair/lead mechanical readiness meetings for assigned areas/systems, drive closure of constraints.
  • Own mechanical deliverables required for subsystem/system turnover (walkdowns, punch listing, A/B/C categorization, and closeout verification).
  • Ensure mechanical tag scoping and ITR assignment are correct in the completions system (e.g., master tag register, tag type matrix/ITR mapping).
  • Validate mechanical MC boundaries and subsystem breakouts support startup sequencing (RFSU/interim groupings as applicable).
  • Plan and execute mechanical test and assist pre-commissioning activities, such as: Flushing/cleaning (lube oil, seal oil, glycol, chemical cleaning where applicable) Hydro/pneumatic testing support and closeout verification Leak/tightness testing and reinstatement Rotating equipment prep (alignment checks, preservation removal, bump tests support with E&I) Static equipment readiness (vessels, exchangers, filters/strainers) including internals and vendor requirements
  • Ensure temporary systems, blinds/spades, strainers/screens, and flushing spools are managed, tracked, and removed/restored properly.
  • Coordinate vendor reps for mechanical packages through CSU sub-contracts coord. (compressors, turbines/DRAs, pumps, air systems, cryogenic equipment, etc.).
  • Manage vendor documentation requirements, punch items, and constraints needed for energization/first run.
  • Ensure vendor sign-offs and warranties/records are protected via correct procedures and documentation.
  • Ensure all mechanical turnover documentation is complete and audit-ready: ITRs, test reports, torque/tension records, reinstatement packs, redlines/as-builts, certificates
  • Support regulatory or operations readiness requirements (e.g., turnover dossiers aligned to owner expectations).
  • Build and maintain mechanical commissioning logic inputs to the integrated schedule (P6 updates through the completions system as required).
  • Provide weekly progress reporting: system readiness status, constraints, look-aheads, critical path impacts, and staffing needs.
  • Support estimating and forecasting for mechanical commissioning labor and vendor support.
  • Enforce commissioning HSSE expectations: PTW, LOTO, SIMOPS planning, energy isolation boundaries, confined space, lifts, and pressure testing safety.
  • Drive high-quality execution—right-first-time documentation, punch integrity, and disciplined change control.
  • Mechanical subsystems turned over on schedule with complete, correct ITR closeout and minimal rework.
  • Mechanical test packages executed safely with repeatable, auditable records.
  • Constraints cleared early (vendor gaps, missing materials, incomplete construction, documentation shortfalls).
  • Smooth transition from MC → pre-commissioning → commissioning → operations with clear ownership and handover.
