About The Position

As a Mechanical Millwright Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of experienced millwrights to learn the skills necessary to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical systems. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in industrial maintenance and mechanical trade.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial maintenance
Ability to follow instructions and work safely
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Work under immediate supervision
Communication Skills - Ability to communicate with all levels of Leadec and customer employees.
Language Ability -- Talking to others to convey information effectively.
Ability to work within precise limits and standards of accuracy
Make decisions based on measurable criteria
Apply basic mathematics to solve problems
Plan tasks and select appropriate tools
Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings
Work confidently at heights
Compare and differentiate sizes, shapes, and forms of mechanical components

Responsibilities

Demonstrates the values and business principles of Leadec.
Works safely at all times.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings for equipment fabrication and assembly
Perform precise layouts for new or relocated equipment installations
Safely and effectively use all hand tools relevant to the trade
Assist with rigging operations: bull rigging experience is a plus
Operate industrial equipment including carry deck cranes, rigger forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts and high-reach lulls
Utilize heavy-duty machine roller, toe-jacks, and air bearings (preferred)
Conduct precise measurements using calipers and micrometers
Support pip fitting tasks across various pipe types (screw, weld, copper, glue joints)
Assist with welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Sticks); welding experience is a plus
Participate in bearing removal and installation
Align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
Use oxyacetylene torch for flame cutting and steel heating
Operate Theodolite surveying equipment (preferred)
Travel for out-of-town assignments as needed
Collaborate effectively with team members and demonstrate a strong work ethic
Adhering to and supporting all EHS and Quality objectives, in accordance with ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001 respectively.
All other duties as assigned by Leadec manager.
