About The Position

Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer (Entry-Level, Associate, or Experienced) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes Mechanical Systems Team is looking for Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineers (Entry-Level, Associate, or Experienced) to join our 737 team in Renton, WA. Position Overview: This individual will work in the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Environmental Control Systems organization to develop, produce, deliver, and support systems for customers who fly Boeing airplanes, enabling high aircraft performance while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, etc.). The role supports the development and documentation of mechanical, fluid system, and thermal-environment requirements that establish system design. It also supports the development, maintenance, and modification of system, component, and installation designs and proposals, providing design documentation to downstream groups. The engineer performs and documents analyses to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications, contributes to supplier development, testing, and production activities, and guides suppliers to optimize integration and meet program goals. The role supports the preparation of standards, installation details, and other documentation for system components, provides training to others, and works under general direction. This position will support one of the sub-teams within 737 ECS: Low-Pressure Analysis (E/E cooling, decompression, air distribution), High-Pressure Analysis (air supply control system, cabin air conditioning and temperature control system, cabin pressure control system, nitrogen generation system), or Icing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with airplane certification
  • Experience with JIRA, DESE/Cameo, Matlab/Simulink, Scripting code (Matlab, C++, Fortran)
  • Technical knowledge in system controls, mechanical systems, systems modeling, heat transfer, thermodynamics, or fluid dynamics.
  • Knowledge in airplane development
  • Strong project management skills to independently execute a variety of projects to completion.
  • Level 2: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Utilizing modeling tools to conduct analysis of Environmental Control Systems
  • Lab & Flight Test Support
  • Factory and Airplane Delivery Center Support
  • In-Service Issue Troubleshooting and Reliability Improvement Projects
  • System Safety Analysis Documentation, including the creation of Fault Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs)
  • Build Airplane Support Manuals, such as Fault Isolation Manual (FIM) and Component Maintenance Manual (CMM)
  • Interfacing with intra-Boeing engineering teams, such as Flight Deck Crew Operations, Pilots, Electrical Systems, Stress, Structures, Propulsion, and Aerodynamics
  • Integrating with suppliers and customers
  • Requirements Traceability & Development Assurance
  • Developing project schedules, then maintaining deliverable releases on time
