About The Position

Mechanical Technician for Manufacturing Facility in Jacksonville, Texas We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Technician to provide support to the Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality and Safety groups within our new start up manufacturing facility in Jacksonville, Texas. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Assist in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of machines to facilitate production and ensure equipment is installed and functioning according to specifications. Provide mechanical assistance to the various departments within the plant with analytical trouble shooting, process improvements, cost improvements, equipment upgrades and installation. Disassemble and repair equipment using the appropriate tools and processes. This may include drilling, tapping, using a torch, welding (MIG, Stick), cleaning and removing bearings, and cleaning parts. Work with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve equipment problems, and provide technical information / training for plant personnel. Work with plant maintenance to update prints and parts on equipment modifications or obsolete components. Performs routine maintenance procedures, PM’s Responsible for supporting the plant processes for defect prevention, and improvements in quality, productivity, yield and cost reduction.  Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned  Will perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.   Position Job Class may vary based on scope of plant / facility, including number of employees, sales volume, and profitability.   Position Qualifications & Requirements:  Education: High School Diploma or GED Mechanical Trades School or Apprenticeship Bachelor of Science required; B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.    Experience: Zero (0) to Three (3) years related experience in Mechanical Engineering. Experience with design of machinery and equipment.   Skills and Abilities: Must have good mechanical aptitude Ability to read, interpret and follow mechanical / hydraulic drawings. Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors and management. Good analysis skills; proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Power Point). The ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.   Supervisory responsibilities:  None Work environment: Manufacturing facility containing metals melting, forming, and fabrication utilizing cranes, & forklifts. Fast-paced working environment, extremely hot at times. Must be able to walk extensively during the workday and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time. May include working all 3 shifts, as needed.  Computer work.  Travel: Domestic and International during start-up phase for training purposes.  Occasional travel after year 1.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Mechanical Trades School or Apprenticeship
  • Bachelor of Science required
  • Zero (0) to Three (3) years related experience in Mechanical Engineering.
